(Patria) - Numerous reactions from angry citizens have followed on the official Facebook page of the Sarajevo Canton Government due to the increase in public transport prices in Sarajevo, and the new price list takes effect tomorrow, which has caused even greater anger. A single ticket has jumped from 1.80 KM to 2.20 KM. The Government claims that the actual price is 2.50 KM but that they will subsidize the difference. Users are also writing that Centrotrans has informed passengers, pupils, and students that they are obliged to buy single tickets as government subsidies are valid only during the school year.
After the services of Toplane-Sarajevo and Vodovod i kanalizacija have already become more expensive, and the increase in other utility services is announced, the news of the increase in public transport ticket prices came like a bolt from the blue.
"How dare you? Peripheral transport in Stari Grad skips lines every day, there are no replacement vehicles. So, will you subsidize taxi fares for us too? Because a taxi coupon is not valid," reads one of the comments.
"Switzerland is in intensive care, with the salaries we have, Germans and Swiss will start coming to work here."
"Are we still praising Minister Šteta for the new trams and trolleybuses, the track to Hrasnica, and the trolleybus to Vogošća? The price increase must happen, all of this must be paid for after all."
"Is it realistic for the price of a ticket for one stop, or two (which is how most passengers travel on routes in Stari Grad), to be the same as the price of a ticket from Baščaršija to Ilidža?!"
