Plenum saves government and parties in Sarajevo Canton

 

Information published by the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) that the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton is paying for the rental of a hall in the Youth Center for citizens' plenums has shocked some of the protesters, and revealed a political game behind it.

Namely, as a source of the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) reveals, the Collegium of the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton made this decision to find a way out and buy time, because at this moment no party, not even SDA, SDP or SBB BiH, wants to take responsibility and form a new government, or propose a new prime minister after Suad Zeljković resigned.

The reason for this is the fact that Sarajevo Canton is in a financial crisis, and to solve the problems of this canton, new borrowing would have to be resorted to. It is planned for the Canton to take a loan of 130 million KM just to fill the biggest budget holes.

In fact, as the NAP source explains, the Plenum has become an exit strategy for the parties that have ruled Sarajevo Canton for the past four years and brought it into the biggest debt since Dayton until today.

- SDA, SDP and SBB are aware that the situation is not satisfactory, so they are avoiding the possibility of taking responsibility and proposing a prime minister. It is easier to pay for some kind of plenum, so that citizens can try to find some solution - says our source.

We remind you that the Assembly of KS has so far adopted the plenum's requests which call for the formation of a government of experts, then a review of salaries and benefits of holders of executive and legislative power, a review of privatization, and the formation of a commission to establish facts about the events of February 7.
