(Patria) - Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković addressed the public after today's meeting in Sarajevo.
Plenković said that the most important message of his visit to Sarajevo is a message about the European path. He praised the work of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the economic cooperation between the two countries, reports Faktor.
He also spoke about the issue of Trgovska Gora, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Croatia had planned to build a nuclear waste repository.
He revealed that it was agreed with Slovenia that until after 2028, when this location was supposed to start operating, the existing waste management system would remain, which is within the Krško nuclear power plant itself.
Today's meeting also discussed security issues, the Russian aggression against Ukraine, "Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel," and Plenković said that Croatia condemned the attack, that Israel has the right to self-defense, but that international humanitarian law must be respected.
- We advocate for preventing regional escalation - added the Croatian Prime Minister.
He reiterated that Croatia is ready to help Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the project of building the southern gas interconnection.
- This is important in the long term for the energy independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina - added Plenković.
Borjana Krišto stated that she is convinced that Croatia will continue to provide assistance on the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that accession negotiations for our country will be opened.
She assesses that the relations between our two countries are good and friendly, and emphasizes that today they also touched on some open issues. However, she did not mention which ones.
- We informed the Prime Minister of Croatia that, despite all the problems and challenges within Bosnia and Herzegovina, a lot of work awaits us, but we are investing a lot of effort in building trust.
Meetings at the political level are held regularly, which nevertheless yield results. Our relations are still burdened by the fact that we must make a huge step forward when it comes to reforming the electoral legislation, changing the Election Law, applying the decisions of the Constitutional Court on the legitimate representation of constituent peoples, and implementing the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights - added Krišto.
Today, Plenković is also scheduled to meet with members of the leadership of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which he will travel to Fojnica and Kiseljak.
In Fojnica, according to the official protocol, he will participate in the ceremony of laying the cornerstone for the "Ivan Goran Kovačić" Elementary School and visit the Monastery of the Holy Spirit and the museum in Fojnica.
In Kiseljak, he will participate in a ceremonial academy on the occasion of the opening of the Pastoral-Social Center of Caritas of the Vrhbosna Archdiocese.
