Singer Berin Buturović recovered from coronavirus: Being sick is not a shame

KONJICA, (Patria) - Bosnian singer Berin Buturović was one of those infected with COVID19. Today, he announced good news on Facebook, that he is no longer positive for this virus. We are publishing his announcement in its entirety.

“Dear friends,
After seventeen days spent in isolation, where I followed the instructions of the WHO and our competent authorities, I am happy that I can finally share some good news with you. After re-testing for the coronavirus as per procedures, I received the final NEGATIVE result last night, and I am considered recovered from COVID-19.

The symptoms I had were most similar to the flu that we have all had at some point, and I was treated as with a common flu. Fortunately, the illness did not leave significant consequences for me, but I also personally saw that people in the risk group struggle much harder with the symptoms. Given this, I appeal to everyone to take the situation with the utmost seriousness and to help people who fall into this group.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the good people for the great support that my family and I received in the past few days, as well as for the numerous small and large tokens of attention. Support came from my Konjic, Sarajevo, Mostar and many other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from my friends from various parts of the world. I am proud that we deserved it from you.

I would also like to thank the dedicated staff of OB Konjic, who work under limited conditions and with limited resources, and who were at our service all these days despite that. I also want to thank the Konjic Police Station for their fair and correct conduct. Thank you to friends from the media who were interested in my condition and the condition of people close to me.

On the other hand, I cannot fail to mention the stigmatization that many people, and even cities affected by this misfortune, are experiencing. From insults, false accusations, and even death threats (the case from Lukavac) from people who are under the influence of incomplete and often inaccurate information. You can surely understand that no one is immune to this disease, that it can happen to anyone regardless of who you are, what you do, or what title you hold, and that no one intentionally decided to get infected. There are countless examples around the world. Being sick must not be marked as a shame!!!

I hope that all of this will soon be behind us, and until then, stay negative (on the test), but positive in spirit, because we all need that!
Once again, a message for friends from the media, this is my official statement and thank you for your understanding, as I am unable to give it to everyone individually.
