(Patria) - The 100th anniversary of the birth of Alija Izetbegović, the first president of the internationally recognized state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the supreme commander of the Army of the Republic of BiH during the aggression against BiH, is being marked at the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica.
Nezir Pivić, Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Government, addressed the event at the beginning.
"Alija Izetbegović, even during his lifetime, transcended the boundaries of a thinker and statesman belonging only to BiH. As time passes, this becomes increasingly evident. Therefore, we must more diligently spread such a narrative.
If we do not return to our historical foundations, others will impose their narrative. That is why it is important to remember Izetbegović's achievements. Public interest is an indicator of how important Izetbegović's legacy is to the people," said Pivić.
