Pivić opened the 17th International Athletics Meeting 'Zenica 2026'

(Patria) - The 17th International Athletics Meeting "Zenica 2026", one of the most significant athletics events in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was ceremonially opened today at the Kamberovića polje Athletics Stadium.

On behalf of the Government of ZDK, the general sponsor of the event, the meeting was opened by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, who thanked the Athletics Club Zenica, organizers and volunteers for the successful organization of this international sports event.

- It is no coincidence that for seventeen years now, top athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina and many other countries have been gathering here, confirming the importance of this meeting on the sports map of the region - said Pivić.

He emphasized that the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton this year increased allocations for sports from two to six million KM and that it will continue to be a reliable partner to sports clubs and athletes.

He particularly highlighted the importance of the Athletics Club Zenica, which, by a decision of the ZDK Government, was recognized as a club of special importance for the canton.

- It is important that we have our champions, such as Amel Tuka and Mesud Pezer, who are our best ambassadors - Pivić stated.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of ZDK Mirza Mušija thanked sports workers, organizers and volunteers who have been successfully implementing this event for 17 years and presenting Zenica, the Zenica-Doboj Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the best possible way.

During its activity, the Athletics Club Zenica has produced five Olympians, while its members achieved top results and won medals at Balkan, European and World Championships, thus earning the status of one of the most successful athletics collectives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
