Co-pilot of the Germanwings plane Andreas Lubitz locked himself in the cockpit when captain Patrick Sondeheimer went to the toilet, world media report, citing a news agency.
The captain begged the co-pilot to unlock the door, but he did not respond. He then took an axe, which is normally part of the equipment on planes, and tried to break down the cockpit door, but failed.
The drama lasted eight minutes. Passengers did not know what was happening until the last moment, which was concluded based on the recording of the black box, on which screaming can be heard.
150 people died in the Germanwings plane that crashed on Tuesday in the Alps in southern France.
