Pilav: There have always been and will always be shortcomings in the patient pathway

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Aida Pilav, President of the Crisis Staff of the Sarajevo Canton, said that the number of fully recovered from coronavirus in the Sarajevo Canton is two, the number of hospitalized at Podhrastovi is eight, and one patient is on a respirator. The total number of those infected with coronavirus in the Sarajevo Canton is 50.

She said that the total number of deaths in the Sarajevo Canton is four.

"Deaths will always occur. There is no need for the population to live in fear and agony; the healthcare system in the Sarajevo Canton is functioning under the best possible circumstances in this pandemic. The patient pathway - the Crisis Staff created the patient pathway and algorithm on February 5," said Pilav.

She added that yesterday an appeal was issued to maintain a favorable epidemiological situation, urging all residents, regardless of the nice weather, to go out only if necessary for work or to obtain medications.

"The healthcare system of the Sarajevo Canton is ready at this moment for the situation. There have always been shortcomings in the patient pathway and there always will be; health centers are well-equipped," said Pilav.

Mehmed Kulić, Director of the Public Institution Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton, said that he is part of the Crisis Staff and that the orders have led to changes in the methodology of health center operations.

"Numerous changes were needed, so we had to set up tents, then through that triage we had to set up an information system; by orders of the Crisis Staff, we had to create H teams that did not exist before, train and equip them to be able to go to homes, establish call centers and a huge number of calls to doctors; we have congestion on certain lines. We were in a position to provide care for health insurance beneficiaries in all other institutions, to take swabs throughout the entire area of the Sarajevo Canton; we signed contracts with other institutions and took over other patients.

I would ask both healthcare workers and patients to endure this task because we started this job well. We have been approved for the admission of 60 healthcare workers and 50 cleaning staff.

Commenting on the deaths that occurred, Kulić said that employees followed the patient pathway prescribed on February 5 and acted as was foreseen.
