Pilav: We will propose new measures for April, all cantons have an upward epidemic trajectory

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Aida Pilav, president of the Crisis Staff of the Sarajevo Canton, said that in the last 24 hours, 86 patients were tested, five new cases were confirmed, and two retests were performed.

"The number of hospitalized patients at the Podhrastovi Clinic is 9, one person is on a ventilator, and two are recovering. According to the decision of the Ministry of Health, 48 people are in home isolation," Pilav said.

She pointed out that from January 30 to April 7, 784 samples were tested in the Sarajevo Canton, of which 57 were positive.

"As the Crisis Staff, we constantly analyze data. There are no blanket assessments; the numbers are what they are, and they help us manage the epidemic. The age group from 51 to 60 years accounts for 30% of confirmed cases, from 21 to 35 years and from 36 to 50 years each account for 22%. What we are satisfied with, if we can be satisfied, is the number of infected in the group from 61-70 and from 71 to 80, which is 4%," Pilav said.

Slightly more women are infected, 52% compared to 48% of men.

"We expect in the next 14 days, in the second incubation period, whether there will be an increase in the number of infected. We are monitoring the coronavirus epidemic in a very controlled manner. For April this year, we will go with new measures and strategies, and today the Crisis Staff has a meeting and we will give a proposal. Based on what we have heard from colleagues from other cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are all on some upward trajectory of the epidemic. By respecting public health measures, we are doing the best job we can. Please, I appeal that these beautiful days do not deceive us into staying at home. It is significant for us to keep our healthcare workers healthy," Pilav said.

She appealed to citizens and the media to follow them because we are all in a common fight and there are no opposing sides.
