(Patria) - Aida Pilav, head of the Civil Protection Headquarters of Sarajevo Canton, stated at today's regular press conference that 1,203 people are currently in self-isolation, while 1,261 people have left isolation.
In the area of Sarajevo Canton, 37 positive cases have been recorded so far.
"We are satisfied with the development of the epidemiological situation. The number of tests is increasing, but there is no significant increase in the number of infected. That plateau exists and we are satisfied. This shows that we took measures in a timely manner and that citizens have largely complied with them," said Pilav.
She emphasized that the Civil Protection Headquarters is of the opinion that the measures banning movement for those under 18 and over 65 should remain in force.
"Our goal is to preserve the health of the population. We have densely populated areas, urban environments with large buildings, and if more frequent contacts were to occur, it could lead to an expansion," said Pilav.
The first laboratory-confirmed case of infection in Sarajevo Canton, as she pointed out, occurred on March 20, and 15 days have passed without a recorded escalation of cases, which they consider a great success.
"In the next 15 days, we want to maintain this, and that is why citizens must adhere to the measures. In 15 days, we have had seven hospitalized patients and only one patient on a ventilator. If we respect the measures, we will very quickly emerge from this situation with a positive outcome," announced Pilav.
