Pendeš and Suljagić discussed continued cooperation with the Swiss Ambassador

Minister of Defence of BiH Marina Pendeš and Deputy Minister Emir Suljagić, along with their associates, received the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to BiH Heinrich Maurer, reports the Patria News Agency.

Ambassador Maurer congratulated Minister Pendeš and Deputy Minister Suljagić on assuming their new duties and leadership positions in the defence sector, and wished them success in leading this institution on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration.

On this occasion, Minister Pendeš informed Ambassador Maurer about the current priorities and activities of the MoD and Armed Forces of BiH on the path to achieving strategic goals and activating the Membership Action Plan (MAP) for NATO as soon as possible.

As priority activities for the current year, she highlighted issues of resolving perspective military property, surplus weapons, ammunition and explosive ordnance, and humanitarian demining, which the new management, a unique blend of experience, youth, knowledge and ambition, will strive to achieve in the coming period.

The Minister also highlighted and praised the good bilateral cooperation between BiH and the Swiss Confederation to date, with a special emphasis on assistance in training our personnel in that country, numerous donations related to improving the process of resolving surplus weapons and ammunition, and creating better conditions for safer storage of weapons and ammunition held by the MoD and Armed Forces of BiH.

Ambassador Maurer expressed full support for BiH's integration process into Euro-Atlantic structures and his government's commitment to strongly support the process of resolving surplus weapons and ammunition in order to create a better and safer environment in BiH, as well as in the region.

The interlocutors also expressed hope that bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries will continue in all the mentioned areas of cooperation, to the mutual satisfaction, it was announced from the Ministry of Defence.
