SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The latest epidemiological data show that in the last 24 hours, 520 samples were tested in FBiH, of which 33 are positive for COVID-19, said Davor Pehar, a member of the Federal Civil Protection Staff and Director of the FBiH Public Health Institute, at a regular press conference.
"In FBiH, a total of 16,225 samples have been tested, and the number of infected is 891. The number of infected by cantons: HNK 247, ZDK 172, KS 112, USK 90, ZHK 84, TK 81, Canton 10 41, SBK 40, BPK 21, and Posavina Canton 3. Of the 48 patients hospitalized, 5 are on ventilators," added Pehar.
He noted that 317 people have recovered so far.
When asked who exactly and when made the assessment that 100 more ventilators were needed, Pehar replied that the FBiH Public Health Institute made a plan on March 25.
"That plan was also adopted by the Crisis Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health, and it was created based on data from the field," he added, but he did not know where the 80 ventilators were currently located.
Pehar replied that research on the dynamics of the coronavirus or its isolation is not yet being conducted in FBiH.
Regarding the increased number of children suffering from diabetes, which experts attribute to isolation, Pehar said that the number of people suffering from diabetes worldwide is constantly increasing, but not necessarily related to the coronavirus pandemic.
.
Pehar confirmed that people suffering from diabetes are at a higher risk of contracting the coronavirus and recommended that they strictly adhere to the measures.
He also said that the success of sunbathing against coronavirus has not yet been confirmed, although there is a hypothesis.
