(Patria) - Speaking about the upcoming local elections in BiH, Pećanin said that "significant changes" can be expected. Renowned Sarajevo journalist and lawyer Senad Pećanin was a guest on the show Istraga sedmice. The topics of discussion were political circumstances in BiH, with a focus on the role of the Trojka and the upcoming local elections, followed by the regional political situation and current US policy in the Western Balkans.
Speaking about the upcoming local elections in BiH, Pećanin said that "significant changes" can be expected and that "the Trojka parties will pay dearly already in these local elections for what they have done since the general elections in 2022 and for all the humiliations we have been subjected to."
"I think that the current municipal head of the Centar municipality, Srđan Mandić, is one of the worst municipal heads in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the other hand, I think that his opponent Dennis Gratz is one of the best politicians, the most educated politicians, whose moral credibility and performance in Parliament, as well as in political and public life, can hardly be faulted. I think that a change will occur in Centar," said Pećanin.
Speaking about the situation in Ilidža, he said that "after the rule of Senaid Memić (SDA), whoever is the candidate can count on victory for the next 15 years."
"In Novi Grad, Semir Efendić, after everything he has done for the municipality, as well as his principled stance on Schmidt's suspension of the FBiH Constitution... I must admit, I had no sympathy for him, but his refusal to enter the federal government, where he was offered the best ministries, is a gesture that still evokes very high respect in me. I don't recall, in the past 30 years in BiH politics, such a gesture. So, a man who is offered the most important ministries in the government refuses for principled reasons and goes into opposition," said Pećanin.
Regarding Novo Sarajevo, he said he does not dare to predict who will be the winner in the race between Benjamina Karić (SDP) and Muamer Bandić (SBiH).
"For Centar, I am quite sure that Dennis Gratz will win. There are many reasons. I live in that municipality. I am absolutely disappointed with the performance of municipal head Mandić, who was everything but what he talked about and promised, which is why I, within my modest means, supported him four years ago," Pećanin said at the end of the conversation, as reported by Hayat.
