PDP: Merge general and local elections in BiH

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) - Secretary General of the Party of Democratic Progress Milko Grmuša said at today's press conference that PDP expects the process of amending the Election Law to begin, so that the next elections are fair and regular.

“I will remind you that the PDP submitted a whole series of reasoned letters to the Central Election Commission the day after the elections, which recorded numerous omissions and irregularities during the election process, both on election day itself and during the campaign. The irregularities were subsequently confirmed by the OSCE in its report,” Grmuša pointed out.

He said that the PDP warned the day after the elections that there would be a problem with legitimacy in the formation of the executive authorities, and that amendments to the Election Law are precisely a prerequisite for the formation of legitimate authorities at all levels, including the BiH level:

“Political consensus is needed to resolve this issue and to have new election rules before the local elections. Then, general and local elections should be merged, which would save our citizens money, but also avoid doubt about the legitimacy of our representatives, especially at the BiH level,” Grmuša said.
