Agreement on Connecting Cantonal Hospital Zenica to Natural Gas Network Initialed

(Patria) - The Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Nezir Pivić and the Director of the Cantonal Hospital Zenica Tarik Zulović initialed today the Agreement on the implementation of connecting the Hospital to the natural gas network within the project "Improving Energy Efficiency in the Cantonal Hospital Zenica".

The project envisages natural gas becoming the primary energy source, which will contribute to greater energy efficiency of the Hospital's system, reduce harmful gas emissions in Zenica, and cease the use of coal as an energy source.

The project also includes the financial participation of the City of Zenica through two agreements related to connecting the Hospital to the gas pipeline network and supplying natural gas.

Infrastructure works for connecting the Hospital to the gas pipeline network will be carried out with the City's participation of 49%, while the remaining funds will be secured by the Canton and the Cantonal Hospital Zenica.

For consulting services and supervision of infrastructure works, the City will participate with 16% of the required funds.

The agreement is yet to be initialed by the Mayor Fuad Kasumović on behalf of the City of Zenica and the Director of JP "Zenicagas" d.o.o. Zenica Sandino Rizvanović.

Given the estimated value of the City of Zenica's connection project of over 1.5 million euros, the Canton's assistance through this agreement amounts to approximately 1.5 million KM.

This confirms the ZDK's commitment to supporting local communities. The project will enable the City's energy independence, as it will no longer depend on the Zenica Steelworks' district heating in the future, while also contributing to the green agenda by reducing air pollution.
