Paper boats sailed down the Miljacka River in support of Palestine

(Patria) - Paper boats symbolically sailed down the Miljacka River today as a sign of solidarity with humanitarian flotillas that plan to sail to Gaza in order to break the deadly Israeli siege of the enclave.

This symbolic gesture in Sarajevo was organized by an informal group of citizens called "Movement to Gaza," whose activists waved Palestinian flags and carried banners dedicated to Gaza.

The group announced the continuation of activities in support of Palestine and its people. They announced a press conference for Sunday, during which they will monitor the departure of the humanitarian flotilla from Sicily towards Gaza.

The first ships of the global Sumud flotilla sailed from Barcelona on August 31 and then returned due to bad weather. After that, on September 1, they set off again on their mission. Ships from Sicily will join the rest of the flotilla on September 7.

The flotilla will include numerous well-known figures from several dozen countries, among them Bosnian activist Boris Vitlačil.

At least 64,231 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's genocidal war in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the Ministry of Health announced today.

Since March 2, Israeli authorities have completely closed all border crossings into Gaza, pushing the territory's 2.4 million inhabitants into famine.

A UN-backed food security assessment has already confirmed famine in northern Gaza and expects it to spread further south by the end of September.
