Pope asks every European parish to take in one refugee family

Pope Francis has called on every European parish, religious community, monastery and sanctuary to take care of one refugee family, reports the Patria news agency.

In his address to tens of thousands of people in St. Peter's Square, the Pope added that the Vatican will open its doors for two refugee families. The Pope said it is not enough to express solidarity with hundreds of thousands of people marching in search of hope for a better life, that it is not enough to say "Be brave, hang in there!".

He called on every Catholic parish, monastery, convent and sanctuary in Europe to provide shelter for one family, and urged bishops across Europe to do the same. The Pope's words come after 8,000 people arrived in Munich in the last two days alone, and as many are expected today, reports aljazeera.com.
