Pale Residents Outraged: All Jahorina Revenue Goes to Dodik

The Jahorina mountain generates millions of convertible marks during the winter season each year, but the local community of Pale benefits very little from it, as the RS Government takes the earned money for itself, taking it to Banja Luka, which is the center of political power in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

This is precisely one of the main reasons for the dissatisfaction of the mayor of Pale, Miodrag Kovačević, who is looking for a way to stop the unjust taking of Pale's money to Banja Luka, which has long been living at the expense of other cities in the RS.

One of the sources of the Patria agency, who is close to the local mayor Kovačević, explains that last season on Jahorina was record-breaking - thousands of tourists from all over the world skied on the Olympic beauty, but all the money earned from ski lifts, as well as the money from the exclusive hotel Bistrica, went to the account of the Olympic Center, and from there to the RS Government, which is controlled by President Milorad Dodik with the help of Prime Minister Željka Cvijanović.

- Owners of private hotels manage their money as they wish, while the money from ski lifts and the Bistrica hotel is managed by Dodik. When you analyze this, you see that the local community gets almost no benefit from this world-renowned beauty – says this source. Jahorina is one of the reasons why the ruling SNSD cannot gain political dominance in Pale.
