Patient from Tešanj in hospital since March 26, tested negative twice, confirmed positive for coronavirus today

(Patria) - Another case positive for Covid has been confirmed in Tešanj.  It is a person from Zavidovići, who was admitted to the General Hospital Tešanj on March 26, 2020. The patient was referred from the Cantonal Hospital Zenica due to symptoms of pneumonia. 

The patient was admitted according to protocols prescribed for COVID-19 and placed in isolation in the pulmonology department of the General Hospital Tešanj. 

Regardless of the negative epidemiological survey from Zenica, the patient was treated with protective measures prescribed by the protocol for COVID-19. 

Based on medical assessment, testing for COVID-19 was performed on March 28 and April 2, 2020, and the tests were negative.

The patient was recovering, but following the guidelines for detecting and treating COVID-19 infections, a third test was performed on April 7, 2020, which showed a positive result. The patient is currently in the process of being transferred to the Cantonal Hospital Zenica.

The Crisis Staff at the General Hospital Tešanj, upon the recommendation of epidemiologists, is determining the list of employee contacts (doctors and medical staff) who will be placed under health surveillance (self-isolation, testing).

The General Hospital Tešanj and the Health Center Tešanj warn of the need for continued caution and inform the public that this event has not compromised or excluded any segment of providing health services to the citizens.

The Municipal and Cantonal Civil Protection Staffs have been informed of the entire case and are involved in further procedures.
