A Czech woman who slipped on grassy terrain and fell into a ravine on Mount Mangart, and an Italian man who had an accident on Triglav are the latest fatalities in the Slovenian mountains, where 28 people have died this year, reports the Patria news agency.
The last two accidents occurred on Sunday, and the mountain rescue service, which could not help them but only brought the bodies down from the inaccessible terrain to the valley, once again warned of the dangers lurking for unprepared hikers.
Slovenian mountain rescue services have about 400 interventions annually, and their statistics show that the most critical days for fatal accidents are precisely the days at the end of August, when the season is at its peak, writes Index.
