This winter was one of the warmest in the last 125 years

Warm weather unusual for this time of year, according to analyses by the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute (FHMZ), is one of the warmest winters in BiH since measurements began. FHMZ meteorologist Željko Majstorović explains to the BiH news agency Patria what happened.

- The cold northern front has stopped at the border of Sava and Danube several times, so it was colder in northern BiH. But due to warm waves from the south, this is one of the warmest. This winter will not be the warmest, because December was somewhat colder. The average temperature was 8 degrees Celsius – says Majstorović.

Such weather has also affected vegetation, with mass cases of plant blooming recorded.

- The weather has confused the plants too, so we have cases where vegetation is a month ahead – states Majstorović.
