Applications Open for the 14th Emmaus International Youth Camp in Potočari

(Patria) - The 14th Emmaus International Youth Work Camp will be held from July 10 to 24 this year in Potočari, Srebrenica. Applications are now open, with the deadline for submission being June 5, and applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than June 20 this year.

Each year, more than 100 young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and Europe participate in the camp, aiming through their socially useful work to contribute to improving the living conditions of the population in the Srebrenica municipality and surrounding areas. The project is designed to help minority returnees and other socially excluded populations in the Srebrenica area, as well as the wider region of eastern Bosnia, to support the sustainability of their return. At the same time, the project helps young people from rural and ethnically divided areas, teaching them about reconciliation, equality, opportunities, and the importance of joint actions, creating conditions for their future social inclusion and initiatives.

“Camp activities include renovating houses, water supply and distribution networks, assisting populations in social need, restoring city parks, restoring cultural landmarks and monuments, cleaning rivers and lakes, renovating schools and roads, etc. In addition to work activities, through various educational, recreational, and sports activities, the camp focuses on gaining knowledge about reconciliation and peacebuilding processes. Through various excursions, visits, and presentations of customs and traditions of different cultures and religions, camp participants acquire new skills, acquaintances, and unforgettable experiences. Therefore, we invite young people from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region to join us at our camp in Srebrenica,” said Mirela Ahmetbegović, Head of the Youth Office of MFS-EMMAUS.
