SARAJevo, (Patria) - An emergency medical point located in the premises at Mis Irbina street number 20, which until recently housed a family medicine clinic, was opened today.
The premises were allocated for this purpose by the Centar Municipality for use, and it also allocated 10,000 KM from its budget for the procurement of medical and other necessary equipment for the emergency medical point, which will be available to citizens 24 hours a day.
The point was opened by the Chairperson of the Centar Municipal Council, Karolina Karačić, and the Director of the Public Institution "Emergency Medical Service Institute of Sarajevo Canton", Dr. Adem Zalihić.
Chairperson Karačić reminded that the Centar Municipality, as a responsible social community, procured a van for the needs of the Emergency Medical Service Institute of Sarajevo Canton at the end of last year, and that the practice of providing assistance to healthcare institutions will continue in the future.
"The initiative to launch an emergency medical point was sent by the Health Council of the Centar Municipality, and the Municipal Council unanimously supported the initiative. We believe this is important for our citizens, considering the frequent traffic jams in our city. The Centar Municipality has allocated these premises for use by the Emergency Medical Service Institute of Sarajevo Canton under very favorable conditions, and in addition, funds have been allocated for equipment as well as for the procurement of a modern van. The Centar Municipality will continue to support healthcare institutions, all with the aim of increasing the quality of service for our fellow citizens," stated Karačić.
Director Zalihić expressed his gratitude to the Municipal Council, the Health Council, and the Mayor of the Centar Municipality, Nedžad Ajnadžić, for recognizing the importance of providing emergency medical assistance.
"The central facility of the Emergency Medical Service Institute of Sarajevo Canton is located in the Novo Sarajevo municipality. Now all municipalities in Sarajevo Canton, except for the Old Town municipality, have a mobile medical point. I am sure that not only the citizens of Centar but also the citizens of Stari Grad will benefit from the opening of this point. We are medical field teams that work 24 hours a day. Teams go to the field and provide care to patients whose lives, a part of their body, or an organ are endangered. When we save the lives of our fellow citizens, one of the most important components is time. Our mission is to reach the patient as quickly as possible, and the opening of this point greatly helps us in this," stated Zalihić.
The opening of the emergency medical point was attended on behalf of the Centar Municipality by the Deputy Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Mustafa Mulić, advisor to the Mayor, Osmo Babić, and associates from municipal services. Also, representatives of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, led by Minister Amela Sofić, attended the opening.
