BELGRADE, (Patria) - Following today's meeting of all members of the Adria Tour Organizing Committee, a decision was made not to continue the tournament, and that it will not be held in Banja Luka, nor in Sarajevo where a match with the best BiH tennis player Damir Džumhur was supposed to take place.
The organizers announced this information shortly after it became known that both Novak Đoković and his wife Jelena tested positive for the new coronavirus.
"We are extremely sorry that we have to stop the organization of tennis tournaments in Banja Luka and Sarajevo. We were looking forward to the audience, who have been waiting for top stars for years, to finally see Novak Đoković and other tennis players live, as well as to promote sports and provide financial support to local players by playing in these cities. Unfortunately, due to all the events in recent days, we have decided that it is now most important for the epidemiological situation to stabilize and for everyone to recover," said tournament director Đorđe Đoković.
"We thank all participants from the Tennis Federation of Republika Srpska, the city of Sarajevo, and everyone who worked hard in previous days to prepare these events. We appreciate it and remain friends, and we hope to bring our idea to life as soon as the conditions are met," Đoković emphasized.
