Emergency services hampered by protests, number of interventions increased

Demonstrators blocked the entire city again today. Aided by taxis, they blocked intersections near the Hygiene Institute and Skenderija. At a time when citizens want to achieve their rights in this way, few of them think about the consequences that blocking the city brings.

However, the Sarajevo Canton Emergency Service warned the Patria News Agency (NAP) that they are working in extremely difficult conditions, and that drivers are finding various ways to provide assistance as quickly as possible to those who need emergency intervention.

Primarius Dr. Ružica Mikić told NAP that the difficulties are particularly pronounced today, as due to weather conditions they have an increased number of stroke patients and traffic accidents, and that speed of arrival of the emergency service is very important in such interventions.

- Our work is extremely difficult because it delays the arrival of the team. Teams are circling, finding ways, but generally, the arrival time of the emergency service and patient care is longer than usual – said Mikić.
