Convictions for Insulting Muslims near Bosanska Gradiška on the Eve of Ramadan

(Patria) - The Islamic Community Council of Bosanska Gradiška condemned the harassment of citizens on religious and national grounds, following an incident that occurred in the village of Obradovac, on the eve of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

“We are surprised by the unpleasant event that occurred on the night before Ramadan in the Obradovac congregation,” the Islamic Community of Bosanska Gradiška stated.

A group of men insulted Muslims who were awaiting the start of Ramadan on Sunday evening in that village near Bosanska Gradiška. Information about this incident was posted by believers on the congregation’s Facebook page.

“Before the first call to prayer for the start of Ramadan, some of our neighbors sent us ‘heartfelt’ congratulations on our greatest month, yelling Chetnik songs, cursing our Bosniak and Muslim mothers, waving flags with loud shouts of ‘Balija on a stake, we will destroy all mosques and kill all Muslims,’” the congregation stated, along with a video showing nationalist outbursts.

The Islamic Community Council of Bosanska Gradiška expects the readiness of the competent authorities to investigate this case and clarify all circumstances related to it, the Patria agency reports.
