Harsh fines for Greece but also for Bosnia and Herzegovina: Football Association to pay 50,000 francs

Last night's match between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece in Athens was marked not only by a dramatic 1-1 draw and the loss of two points, but also by a series of incidents, the biggest of which occurred when a banner was unfurled at the stadium in Greece reading: „Knife, wire, Srebrenica“. Shortly after, a Serbian flag was also displayed.

As Patria learns, representatives of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina intervened immediately at halftime, drawing the delegate's attention to the nationalist and racist outbursts of Greek fans.

The fine that will follow for the Greek football association will not be small, as UEFA's main motto, which it has been promoting for years, is: „No to racism.“

A source from the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina told Patria that at halftime, Greek politicians who were attending the match also tried to explain to our representatives that it was about people from Serbia, but they received a clear answer:

- Do not remind us in Europe of our wounds that hurt us, because just when we calm the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, someone in Europe reminds us of it.

In addition to the major failures of the organizers, who allowed the entry of a large number of pyrotechnic devices, and due to the irresponsibility of individuals, Bosnia and Herzegovina will also pay a fine that will not be less than 50,000 Swiss francs.

The flare display followed Miralem Pjanić's goal, and the match was interrupted for several minutes.

Although many will say that the organizers' failure is the greatest and that they should bear the blame, it is known that UEFA has no mercy and that Bosnia and Herzegovina will also pay the price for the burning at the stadium.
