Osmančević: Who is Ramiz Salkić to decide what the language of a people will be called?

The latest statement by the Vice President of the smaller BiH entity, Ramiz Salkić, that the name 'language of the Bosniak people' is acceptable only on condition that the Serbian and Croatian languages are also called languages of the Serbian and Croatian peoples, is at the very least immature and naive, says Dževad Osmančević, Vice President of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria news agency.

-First of all, the question arises: who is Ramiz Salkić to decide what is acceptable or not for the language of a people? Mr. Salkić is primarily an incompetent person to speak about the mentioned issue, let alone draw conclusions and offer what is acceptable or not. His inactivity and defensive behavior of the political option he represents in the smaller BiH entity have led to a humiliating attitude towards returnees by the authorities of the entity in which we live.

There is no bargaining about language, nor can there be negotiations, especially since one political option, no matter which one, cannot discuss it, because language is a matter of the entire people, not of individuals or individual parties.

We speak a language in which we all understand each other perfectly, and the people to which I belong call it Bosnian, so accordingly it will remain so, and we will seek justice in all judicial instances, including European ones. Therefore, I call on Mr. Salkić to apologize to his people who elected him, and especially to returnees whose children attend school in the smaller BiH entity and pay the highest price for the servile behavior of Salkić and similar representatives of Bosniaks, says Osmančević.
