SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The handball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered a convincing defeat in the first round of the European Championship, Sweden fully justified its favorite role against our national team, weakened by numerous absences.
Only in the opening minutes did the Dragons have a tied score (1:1), when Perić converted a penalty.
The rest of the first half was a one-way street. The Swedes had a lead of 5:1 in the sixth minute, then 9:4, and then a seven-goal advantage (13:6) in the 23rd minute.
With a goal by Lukić, our guys reduced the deficit to 14:9, after which the Scandinavians restored a seven-goal distance (16:9) with a goal by Pettersson.
The first 30 minutes concluded with a score of 17:11.
The Swedes continued in a fierce rhythm in the second half. With a new goal by Pettersson, they increased their lead to 20:11 in the 36th minute, and four minutes before the end, with a precise shot by Mellegård, who was on fire in the second half, they took a large 12-goal lead (29:17).
The match ended with a score of 30:18.
