OŠ 'Abdulvehab Ilhamija' Željezno Polje marks 81 years of work: New investments in school infrastructure announced

(Patria) - A delegation of the Government and Assembly of ZDK, led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and Assembly Chairman Ćazim Huskić, attended the celebration of the Day of OŠ "Abdulvehab Ilhamija" in Željezno Polje near Žepče.

The school, founded in 1945 immediately after the end of World War II, marked 81 years of successful work and activity in the field of upbringing and education.

Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić congratulated the students, teachers and parents on the School Day, emphasizing that Željezno Polje represents an example of perseverance and commitment to the homeland.

- You can be proud of the generations that have emerged from this region and who today achieve successes in science, economy and other areas of social life.

After the great floods of 2014, you showed determination to stay and develop your community, and it is especially gratifying that the number of students did not decline but grew - said Pivić.

He emphasized that the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton continues to invest in education, both through improving the material status of employees and through support for students and infrastructure projects.

- To have successful students, we must have satisfied teachers. In the past two and a half years, we have increased salaries for employees in education several times, and a new increase is planned for next month.

We continue to provide free textbooks for all primary school students and invest in improving school infrastructure throughout the canton - Pivić stated.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mirza Mušija, who also attended the celebration, pointed out that the school was founded during the reconstruction period after World War II and added that education is the foundation of the development of any society.

- Society is built through education and upbringing. That is precisely why schools have a special role in shaping generations that will create, build and contribute to the community.

The name Abdulvehab Ilhamija carries a strong symbolism of courage, free thought and struggle for justice, values that should still be a role model for young generations today - said Mušija.

Mayor of Žepče Municipality Mato Zovko emphasized the importance of the school for the local community, recalling that over the past eight decades, numerous generations of students, teachers and other employees who contributed to the development of this region have passed through this educational institution.

School director Suvad Hadžić thanked all levels of government for their continuous support, emphasizing that it is one of the better-equipped schools and that investments in infrastructure and school equipment are continuously ongoing.

Prime Minister Pivić and Minister Mušija announced continued investments in OŠ "Abdulvehab Ilhamija" through joint projects of the ZDK Government and the Municipality of Žepče, including the construction of a new sports hall in the Biljevina branch school.
