Accused of human smuggling pleaded guilty

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The accused Jasmin Selimagić entered into a guilt plea agreement with a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, and was sentenced to a unified prison term of one year and three months.

An agreement was also reached with Milica Milićević, a citizen of Montenegro, who was proposed a prison sentence of one year, which will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within four years, as well as a secondary fine of 6,000 KM.

Igor Đurica also entered into a guilt plea agreement, and a prison sentence of one year was proposed as the main penalty, which will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within four years, as well as a secondary fine of 4,000 KM.

Drago Suvodalac entered into the same agreement, and was sentenced to six months, which will not be executed if the accused does not commit a new criminal offense within two years, as well as a secondary fine of 1,000 KM.

The indictment states that the accused, acting jointly, through agreed and connected actions, committed the illegal transfer of seven migrants, citizens of Afghanistan and Iran, their transport and accommodation in BiH, and the arrangement of illegal transfer to EU countries, from November 26, 2016, to April 4, 2017.

All accused, in the presence of their lawyers, mutually pleaded guilty to the criminal offense of association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses under Article 249, in conjunction with the criminal offense of human smuggling under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The accused voluntarily and with understanding pleaded guilty, without any coercion or persuasion, and waive their right to a trial, as well as the right to appeal the verdict that the Court of BiH will pronounce based on the agreement.

The agreed guilt pleas have been forwarded to the Court of BiH.
