Centar Municipal Council unanimously demands urgent relocation of Methadone Centre by September 1

(Patria) - Today, the 2nd emergency session of the Centar Municipal Council was held, chaired by Deputy Chairperson Sara Arslanagić.

The session was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, the Centar Police Station, the Health Council of Centar Municipality, the council of the local community "Park-Višnjik", and an informal group of citizens from the area of the local community "Park-Višnjik".

The session discussed issues related to the location of the Methadone Centre of Sarajevo Canton. Following the discussion, council members unanimously adopted the following Conclusion:

1. The Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council demands from the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton to urgently, and no later than the start of the new school year (September 1), relocate the premises of the Public Institution Institute for Addiction Diseases of Sarajevo Canton from Bolnička Street in the local community "Park-Višnjik", and to offer an adequate solution that respects health standards (hospital facility), ensures public order and safety, does not jeopardize the operation of educational institutions, and the daily life of citizens.

2. The Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council demands from the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Interior to provide a permanent 24-hour presence of members of the Centar Police Administration until the problem is permanently resolved.

3. The Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council demands that the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, as well as the Federal Ministry of Health, find a systemic and permanent solution, taking into account the possibility of decentralization, and initiate the development of an intersectoral strategy for combating addiction, which includes: public health, education, security, social protection, and local communities.

4. The Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council demands that the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton, before making any decision regarding the resolution of the aforementioned and similar problems, consult representatives of local self-government bodies.
