SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The commander of the Stari Grad municipal civil protection unit, Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, ordered a visit to our distinguished citizens from Stari Grad who, through their long-standing work and activities, have left a significant mark and made a huge contribution to the development of the local community and beyond.
Given that these are persons over 65 years of age, Mayor Hadžibajrić tasked the head of the civil protection unit, Lejla Dizdarević, with visiting them at their home addresses, delivering gifts, and offering any kind of assistance they might need.
Although surprised by these home visits, they were also pleased and expressed satisfaction that this local community thinks of them.
Head of the Unit Dizdarević also knocked on the door of Jovan Divjak, a retired general of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who lives in Stari Grad. Wearing protective gloves and masks, she presented him with appropriate gifts and offered help with anything he needed. Fortunately, Mr. Jovo said he is coping well with the days of isolation, which are made easier by his small rituals: reading the daily press, books, and phone conversations with friends. He noted that members of the Association "Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina" help him and bring everything he needs. He thanked them for this visit and said it is nice to know that someone remembered him and offered help.
It was similar during the visit to the distinguished retired professor, academician Smail Čekić, who also thanked them for the visit and gifts and sent greetings to the municipal mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and the municipal administration.
He respects the isolation measures, and as someone who has devoted a good part of his life to studying the contemporary political and military history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other neighboring countries, as well as writing numerous professional and scientific papers, he certainly finds ways to use his free time productively even today.
Former Mayor of Stari Grad Municipality and former parliamentarian Fehim Škaljić was also visited at his home address by municipal employees. They confirmed that he is well and spends his retirement days on his estate, enjoying nature, so isolation does not weigh heavily on him.
He thanked them for the visit and stated that he still follows the work of this local community, for which he has only words of praise, and remembers his time as Mayor of Stari Grad with the fondest memories.
