Novi Grad Municipality marks 47th anniversary, Efendić says they continue investing in infrastructure without loans

(Patria) - On the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo – December 16 and the celebration of the 47th anniversary of its existence, a ceremonial academy was held in the multimedia hall of the Novi Grad municipality, which was attended by the first mayor of the municipality, Prof. Dr. Sulejman Maslo, who served from 1978 to 1982.

The current mayor of Novi Grad municipality, Semir Efendić, said that the municipality is facing a year of development, and that he is particularly pleased with the connection of the Novi Grad municipality via the IX transversal road.

“This is a major project that has connected the Novi Grad municipality. We have prepared projects and we will continue investing in infrastructure. We invest more than 50 percent of our budget in development projects. That is a good percentage. If it were the same at other levels of government and in other municipalities, it would certainly be felt. We do all this without taking out loans. We can say that we are satisfied, considering the times we live in, what the Novi Grad municipality has achieved is satisfactory for us,” said Efendić.

The first mayor, Sulejman Maslo, said that the Novi Grad municipality is one of the best and most promising municipalities not only in Sarajevo but in the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We started from scratch, and now it is one of the best municipalities in BiH. I hope it will continue what has been started and make the municipality even better for its citizens and for the overall development of BiH,” said Maslo.

Efendić emphasized that they will work on numerous projects, as well as on the construction of housing units for young people.

In the Municipality Gallery, a traditional exhibition of artists from Novi Grad was opened. The exhibition is diverse and offers the audience a heterogeneous quality both thematically and technically, featuring all fine art techniques from paintings to sculptures.

The Mayor of Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, Semir Efendić, welcomed those present and wished them a warm welcome to the traditional exhibition of artists from Novi Grad, organized on the occasion of the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the existence of the Novi Grad Sarajevo municipality.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on the Municipality Day – December 16. For many years now, we have been organizing an exhibition of artists from Novi Grad, and on this occasion, I thank our academic painter and curator of the exhibition, Džeka Hodžić, as well as all the artists who honor us every year with such beautiful content. In this way, all residents of Novi Grad have the opportunity to see and get acquainted with what our artists and painters create,” emphasized Mayor Efendić.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until December 30, 2024, every working day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
