Municipality Centar provides 651 school bags for first-graders

After the second enrollment period in August, 651 first-graders were enrolled in the first grade of the 2015/2016 school year in 11 primary schools in the Municipality of Centar, reports the Patria News Agency.

In the first enrollment period in April, 632 children (322 girls and 310 boys) were enrolled in the first grades of 11 primary schools in the Municipality of Centar for the 2015/2016 school year. Compared to the April enrollment period, an additional 19 students were enrolled in August.

The number of enrolled students in this school year is 7.13 percent lower compared to the number enrolled in the 2014/2015 school year, when 701 students were enrolled.

According to the records of the Service for Education, Culture and Sport of the Municipality of Centar, in the 2015/2016 school year, the largest number of students, 151, will attend the first grade of nine-year primary education at the Primary School of the Catholic School Center. 90 children were enrolled in the "Isak Samokovlija" school, and 76 in the "Safvet-beg Bašagić" Primary School. 64 first-graders will attend the "Alija Nametak" Primary School, 57 the "Musa Ćazim Ćatić" school, 56 the "Nafija Sarajlić" Primary School, and 45 children were enrolled in the "Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak" school.

40 children were enrolled in the "Hasan Kikić" Primary School, 30 in the "Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević" school, and 24 children in the "Vladislav Skarić" school. The smallest number of first-graders, 18, were enrolled in the "Hasan Kaimija" Primary School.

Nine-year primary school attendance is mandatory for children aged six to fifteen. Children who have turned five and a half years old by March 1, 2015, are enrolled in primary school. Primary education is mandatory for all children, and certain penalties are foreseen for parents who do not enroll their children in school within the prescribed deadlines without a valid reason.

Classes in the 2015/2016 school year begin on September 1, 2015, when representatives of the Municipality of Centar are scheduled to present school bags with supplies to all first-graders. The Municipality of Centar traditionally implements the project of purchasing school bags and supplies for first-graders, and this year, 31,000 KM has been allocated from the Municipal budget for this purpose, it was announced from the Municipality of Centar.
