Centar Municipality Continues to Support the Association of Persons with Muscular Dystrophy of Sarajevo Canton

The Centar Municipality and Mayor Dževad Bećirević have been supporting the work of the Association of Persons with Muscular Dystrophy of Sarajevo Canton for years, specifically projects related to assisting members of the Association who suffer from muscular dystrophy residing in the Centar municipality, reports the Patria News Agency.

This year, 3,000 convertible marks have been allocated from the budget of the Centar Municipality of Sarajevo for a project aimed at improving the mobility and living conditions of persons with muscular dystrophy.

- Our association has 22 members in the Centar municipality. The project we are implementing primarily focuses on improving the mobility and living conditions of our members from Centar. We achieve this through the procurement of electric wheelchairs and the servicing of those already in use. The Association's goal is to enable our members suffering from muscular dystrophy to leave their homes, meaning to allow them independent movement, emphasized Almir Šahmanija, Executive Director of the Association.

Muscular dystrophy is a progressive and hereditary disease that destroys the muscles controlling movement. The disease most often appears at a younger age, and after a shorter or longer period of progression, it renders patients seriously disabled and dependent on their surroundings, it was announced from the Centar Municipality.
