In Centar Sarajevo Municipality, a protocol on the implementation of a grant to the Academy of Fine Arts was signed. The document was signed on behalf of Centar Municipality by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, and on behalf of the Academy by Dean Marina Finci, reports the Patria news agency.
Through the budget rebalance for this year, Centar Municipality allocated 3,000 KM for the repair and restoration of lighting fixtures for the external illumination of the Academy of Fine Arts building. Finci thanked Centar Municipality and Mayor Bećirević for their ongoing support to this higher education institution.
– The Academy of Fine Arts building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Sarajevo. Since we cultivate aesthetic and spiritual values at the Academy, it is important to us, and I believe to this city, that this building remains one of Sarajevo's landmarks. Centar Municipality shows how the local community cares about the beautiful appearance of the city, Finci emphasized.
The previous administration of the Academy of Fine Arts had already initiated the procedure for selecting a contractor who, upon the transfer of funds, expected in the coming days, will immediately begin the repair and replacement of lighting fixtures for external illumination, so that this building could very soon, especially at night, display all its beauty.
The Academy of Fine Arts building was constructed in the Romanesque-Byzantine style in 1899 as an Evangelical Church, according to the designs of the famous Czech architect Karel Pařík, announced from Centar Municipality.
