Municipality Centar financially supported the project "Days of the Ahdnama 2015"

A grant agreement was signed at the premises of the Municipality Centar for the realization of a grant in the amount of 1,500 KM, which this local community allocated to the Bosnian-Turkish Friendship Association “Bosfor” for the realization of the project “The Fall of Bosnia under Ottoman Rule and Sultan Fatih's Ahdnama – Days of the Ahdnama 2015”, reports the Patria News Agency.

Mayor Dževad Bećirević signed the agreement on behalf of the Municipality Centar, while the president of the mentioned association, Rizvan Halilović, signed on behalf of the association. On this occasion, he thanked Mayor Bećirević for the overall long-term support that the Municipality Centar provides to this association, based on which cooperation was established with the staff and students of 11 primary schools from Centar.

Students from these schools participate every year in an art workshop organized by this association in front of the BBI Center at the Square of the Children of Sarajevo. All children's artworks from this workshop on the theme of multiculturalism, togetherness, human rights, and freedoms in Bosnia and Herzegovina are exhibited to the public during the “Days of the Ahdnama” event at the Milodraž field near Kiseljak, at the Turkish Cultural Center “Yunus Emre”, and at the Monastery of Saint Anthony in Sarajevo.

– With these projects, we want to promote our culture and heritage, which is extremely valuable, because the Ahdnama is among the greatest documents of that era that speak of human rights and freedoms. In a few days, we plan to mark 826 years since the creation of the Charter of Ban Kulin, which was written on August 29, 1189, in the Old Bosnian vernacular and the Bosnian script bosančica, stated Halilović.

The Bosnian-Turkish Friendship Association “Bosfor” organizes the “Days of the Ahdnama” event every year on May 28. The central event is organized at the Milodraž field, the place where, in 1463, after the conquest of Bosnia, Sultan Mehmed II Fatih issued the Ahdnama to the Bosnian Franciscans, it was announced from the Municipality Centar.
