Municipality Centar Donates 10,000 KM to Municipality Ilijaš for Flood Relief

Chairman of the Centar Sarajevo Municipal Council Nedžad Ajnadžić received the Mayor of Ilijaš Municipality Akif Fazlić at the Centar Municipality, on the occasion of signing a protocol on a donation in the amount of 10,000 KM allocated to Ilijaš from the Centar Municipality budget grant intended for assistance to other municipalities for the remediation of flood and landslide consequences, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

During the signing of the donation protocol, the Mayor of Ilijaš Municipality emphasized that this is not the first time that the central Sarajevo municipality has helped Ilijaš.

– First of all, I want to thank the Centar Municipality, which has been helping the Ilijaš Municipality for many years. Many municipalities in BiH suffered great material damage during the May floods, when there were also human casualties. In Ilijaš, the damage is estimated at 1,014,000 KM, which we cannot compensate from our own funds, so any help is welcome. The donation from the Centar Municipality will be used to compensate for the payments we have to make for the engagement of the necessary machinery during the spring natural disaster – said Fazlić.

Mustafa Resić and Adil Katica, advisors to the municipal mayor and chairman of the Municipal Council Centar, respectively, as well as Vahid Bećirević, assistant mayor for civil protection of the Centar Municipality, and Senad Čustović, head of the common affairs service of the Ilijaš Municipality, also attended today's signing of the protocol.

The mentioned funds were allocated from a grant of 500,000 KM, which the Centar Municipal Council allocated at a session held on May 20 this year, at the proposal of Mayor Dževad Bećirević, for assistance to the population of endangered areas in BiH that suffered the most during the major May floods.

It is also planned to allocate 10,000 KM from the aforementioned funds to assist the municipalities of Teočak, Gradačac, Sapna, Srebrenik (Federation of BiH), and Vukosavlje, Vlasenica, and Bijeljina (Republika Srpska), while an additional 5,000 KM will be donated to assist the Municipality of Zavidovići.
