The Centar Municipality has been allocating significant financial resources for many years to improve the education system and enhance the living conditions of children and teaching staff in elementary schools located within its area. This year, they distributed 50,000 KM to several schools. 12,000 KM was allocated to the elementary school "Hasan Kaimija" for the repair of damaged glass prisms on the school roof, 8,000 KM each to the schools "Safvet-beg Bašagić" (for the renovation of the physical education hall), "Vladislav Skarić" (for sanitary facilities), and "Nafija Sarajlić" (for the reconstruction of the stairs at the entrance to the schoolyard and asphalting part of the yard). 5,000 KM each was allocated to the elementary schools "Isak Samokovlija" and "Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak" for the renovation of toilets. The school "Hasan Kikić" received 4,000 KM for the replacement of part of the worn-out carpentry on the school building.
When determining the amount of donated funds to the schools, the total number of students, previous municipal donations, and the urgency of problem-solving were taken into consideration.
Furthermore, the Centar Municipality continued its successful cooperation with the National Theatre during December. Thanks to the financial support of the Municipality, elementary school students visit theatre performances for free.
Within this project, four performances are planned for December for 665 older elementary school students from nine elementary schools in the central Sarajevo municipality and their teachers.
Thus, seventh-grade students from the elementary schools "Safvet-beg Bašagić" and the Catholic School Center watched the youth opera "Ježeva kuća" at the National Theatre on December 2, 2014.
The ballet performance "Giselle" will be watched on December 19 by eighth-grade students from the Catholic School Center Elementary School, and the ballet "Palčica" on December 22 by seventh-grade students from the elementary schools "Hasan Kikić", "Nafija Sarajlić", "Musa Ćazim Ćatić", and "Vladislav Skarić". The opera "Gianni Schicchi" is scheduled for December 23, when seventh-grade students from the "Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak" Elementary School and eighth-grade students from the "Alija Nametak" and "Musa Ćazim Ćatić" schools will have the opportunity to watch this work by the master of the world opera scene, Giacomo Puccini.
During November, 576 students and teachers watched the performances "Palčica", "Tartuffe", and "Mare Nostrum" at the National Theatre.
