The Moneyval session began today and will last until April 16, with Samir Omerhodžić, a member of the BiH team at Moneyval, attending, writes the Patria News Agency. The Committee of Experts of the Council of Europe for the evaluation of the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorist activities, which directly concerns BiH, will convene tomorrow.
Some media outlets have reported that BiH could once again end up on the blacklist, even though a provision of the Criminal Code related to the financing of terrorism has been adopted. Omerhodžić says that we should wait for the session and not rush into possible scenarios.
- We cannot create any scenario before the session. By adopting this provision of the Criminal Code, we have fulfilled the obligation that was requested of us. Whether countries will demand greater obligations from us, we do not know. But it emerged from the December session that BiH must adopt this provision related to the financing of terrorism – says Omerhodžić.
He added that it could very easily happen that some countries simply ask whether BiH has done enough or not.
