Easier access to healthcare services: E-appointment for patients in KS faster and simpler

(Patria) - The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton (KS) announced today that it is continuously working on improving the healthcare system with a clear goal - to provide every patient with faster, simpler, and safer access to healthcare services.

At the latest in a series of meetings, Minister Enis Hasanović emphasized the importance of daily and coordinated work of all actors in the system.

"The success of this project is the result of the dedicated work and cooperation of all levels of healthcare, who together contribute to simplifying the process and making it easier for patients.

By introducing e-referrals, patients can now enter the entire healthcare system with one visit to their family doctor, schedule their first appointment, and, if necessary, follow-up appointments, without the need for multiple visits for each referral individually.

This simplifies the patient's journey through the system, reduces waiting times and administrative barriers, and makes access to services faster and more efficient," said Hasanović.

According to the relevant ministry, it is particularly important to highlight other implemented activities such as:
‣ opening calendars for scheduling initial appointments up to six months in advance;
‣ creating referrals for follow-up appointments within hospital institutions for the same six-month period;
‣ enabling e-referrals when transferring patients between clinics, within the same institution, or between KCUS and the General Hospital; and
‣ the validity of e-referrals for oncology patients throughout their entire treatment.

"Every step we take, every decision, and every day of work leads to one goal - that the patient is always first. Our vision is clear - every patient deserves to have their path to treatment made easier and to feel that their health is our priority.

The Ministry of Health of KS will continue with concrete improvement activities in the future, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner," the Ministry stated.
