March of Peace second stage completed, participants arrive in Mravinjci

SREBRENICA, (Patria) - Participants of the March of Peace 2019, numbering over 6,000 this year, completed the second stage today and most have arrived at the Mravinjci camp, despite difficulties during today's stage due to the rain that fell last night.

Munir Habibović, president of the Subcommittee for the March of Peace, told NAP that they are satisfied with how today went and with the overall progress of this year's March of Peace.

"In all the years the March of Peace has been organized, we have never had fewer interventions than this year. With these two days, I can say we are satisfied," said Habibović.

He stated that during the day he sent teams to check the situation in the Kameničko Brdo area after the rain and to make a decision about the March of Peace passing through the route that thousands of Srebrenica residents took in July 1995.

"For now, the situation is good, there were no damages, but tonight after 8 PM we will consider in more detail whether we will pass over Kameničko Brdo tomorrow. If there are no more precipitation and the situation remains as it is, I think we will succeed according to the plan," said Habibović.

The route of the March of Peace passes through: Nezuk - Baljkovica - Parlog - Crni Vrh - Snagovo - Liplje - Jošanica - Donja Kamenica - Bakrači - Glodi - Udrč - Cerska - Kaldrmica - Đugum - Mravinjci - Burnice - Kameničko Brdo - Ravni Buljim - Jaglići - Šušnjari - Budak - Potočari (Memorial Center). The walk takes three days, about 30 kilometers per day, over very demanding terrain.

The arrival of the March of Peace participants in Potočari is expected on July 10 in the afternoon.

Coffins with the remains of 33 victims of the genocide were brought to the Potočari Memorial Center this afternoon.
