Around 200 nature lovers visited Olympic Bjelašnica

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Initiative for Bjelašnica and Igman, with the support of KJP ZOI84, organized a promotional walk along the Bjelašnica ridge yesterday, attended by 200 nature lovers aged 7 to 77.

While strong winds prevented organizers from carrying out a mass hiking tour of Bjelašnica last year, the weather was favorable this time: sunny, with a light breeze, ideal for spending a day at 2000 meters. While the temperature in the city climbed to 34 degrees Celsius, the temperature on Bjelašnica was pleasant, around 26 degrees Celsius.

The large number of participants made this hike difficult to organize, but everything went smoothly. KJP ZOI84 provided free transport via the six-seater chairlift, and then, accompanied by guides, participants reached Mala Vlahinja. For many, this was their first visit to the Olympic beauty, and some fondly recalled the Sarajevo Olympics and took photos by the Olympic snowflake that still stands at the start house today.

"We are very satisfied with the turnout, thereby achieving our goal. We wanted to promote the beauties that Bjelašnica offers, and it seems we have fully succeeded. It is a great pleasure to see children running around the meadow or entire families visiting the mountain for the first time. We hope that citizens will use vertical transport more in the future and hike Bjelašnica because it is a true air spa," said the Initiative for Bjelašnica and Igman.

One of the participants gave the best assessment. "This is something wonderful. I didn't even know it was so easy to reach this altitude where you can truly breathe freely. Next weekend, I will definitely come with my whole family.".

The Initiative for Bjelašnica and Igman states that this is just one of a series of actions to improve the overall condition and image of Bjelašnica. Igman is next, as well as intensifying preparations for the winter ski season.

They expect the reservoirs for artificial snowmaking to be full by the end of the summer, the completion of work on widening the "technical road," and the realization of the project for snowmaking of the entire "Kolijevka" trail.
