OHR calls on political parties to find a solution for the Law on Residence

The OHR is also pleased about today's session of the House of Peoples, which could not be held earlier due to lack of quorum. The OHR spokesperson Eldar Subašić stated that the OHR welcomes the fact that, after a long break in work, the House of Peoples met today with the necessary quorum and discussed a number of issues, including the proposed amendments to the Law on Residence, reports the Patria News Agency.

- We now expect all parties to work together to find a pragmatic solution for the adoption of amendments to the legislation on residence at the state level, which would enable equal implementation of the law throughout the country. There is room for this, and we expect all involved political parties to participate in constructive and pragmatic discussions with the aim of adopting the law – said Subašić.

He added that the issue of residence is regulated by state law.

- Entities have a constitutional obligation to fully respect laws adopted by the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Entities must refrain from taking unilateral steps that would be an attempt to bypass the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina – added Subašić.
