OHR reacts: Draft law on the agenda of the NSRS tomorrow aims to silence freedom of expression and criticism

(Patria) - The Office of the High Representative in BiH (OHR) issued a press release today regarding an item on the agenda of tomorrow's session of the NSRS.

It concerns the Draft law on the special register and public work of non-profit organizations, and the OHR stated:

"Civil society organizations play an essential role in democratic systems. The Draft law on the special register and public work of non-profit organizations, which will be on the agenda of the National Assembly of the RS on September 26, aims to silence and intimidate civil society organizations, suppress freedom of association and expression, and endanger pluralism and criticism of government policies," the OHR statement on X reads.

The OHR added that the RS government shows a lack of trust in its own citizens and wants to control them.

"It must stop attacking citizens' right to association and should not fear criticism. Such a law has no place in a democratic society and must be withdrawn," the OHR concluded.
