Kupres Police Announce After Attack on Imam Makić: Perpetrator Identified, Case to Be Transferred to Prosecutor's Office

(Patria) - Following yesterday's incident in which the imam of the Kupres community, Fahrudin-ef. Makić, was verbally attacked, the Kupres Police Station has announced, confirming that the perpetrator has been identified and that the case will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office.

On December 8, the Kupres Police Department received a report stating that an unknown person had uttered verbal threats and insults towards another person, a religious official. Kupres Police officers identified the person through operational work, summoned them to the official premises, and took their statement. After the documentation is completed, the case will be submitted to the competent Prosecutor's Office in Livno for further proceedings.

We remind you that the incident occurred in the afternoon hours in front of the mosque in Kupres. As stated in the statement from MIZ Bugojno, the attacker first obstructed the imam with his car while crossing the road, honking the horn for a prolonged period, and then waited for him after prayer and insulted him on a national basis.

According to media reports, the perpetrator is a Croatian national from the Kupres area. Sources confirm that serious insults were uttered during the incident, and that, according to witnesses, the imam reacted by immediately contacting the police by phone.
