Protests held in front of the Faculty of Criminal Justice: Students demand expulsion of female students who glorified war criminals

(Patria) - Students of the Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies of the University of Sarajevo gathered in front of the Faculty ahead of the Faculty Administration meeting at 12 PM. The students were informed about this by Dean Jasmin Ahić.

The Faculty is expected to make a decision on the further status of the female students who glorified war criminal Ratko Mladić on social media during July 11th.

Today, students clearly demanded the expulsion of these female students from the Faculty, stating that this was not an isolated incident. A similar situation occurs on January 9th as well.

The President of SPUS, Fauk Dević, is also present at the protests and stated that the only adequate sanction for these female students is expulsion from their studies.

"In this situation, on a day when we commemorate the most painful point of our Bosniak people, we have certain students who strike at that most painful point. These are things we must not accept happening at our University. These should be academic citizens; imagine what kind of academic citizens they will be who do not respect laws, historical facts, and who do not respect their fellow citizens who were in great emotional pain on July 11th," said Dević.

Yesterday, Dean Ahić initiated disciplinary proceedings against the female students.

"Yesterday, after receiving reports from the faculty's students to me as dean about an unpleasant incident that allegedly occurred on social media, I, as dean, initiated activities within my jurisdiction to establish the facts. I contacted the student vice-dean with whom I will hold a meeting today, along with the students who filed the report. Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated, and after the proceedings are concluded, we will address the public and announce the decision of the disciplinary commission regarding any potential sanctions," stated Ahić.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received all materials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton Police Administration regarding these female students, and a case has been opened for inciting national, racial, and religious hatred, discord, and intolerance under Article 145a of the Criminal Code of BiH.
