Commemoration held on the occasion of the death of Sead Jesenković, a legend of FK Sarajevo

(Patria) - On the occasion of the death of former FK Sarajevo player and coach Sead Jesenković, who passed away on November 22 in Sarajevo at the age of 81, a commemorative session was held today at the Youth Theatre.

In addition to family members, players from several generations of the Sarajevo club, and admirers of Sead Jesenković's life and work attended the commemoration.

The gathering was addressed by former teammate from Sarajevo's championship team Mirsad Fazlagić, who evoked memories of their shared days in their sports careers, as well as former players from later generations Nijaz Merdanović and Amar Ferhatović.

Jesenković will be remembered as part of the club's first championship generation from Košev in 1967. He was an indispensable member of the starting lineup of the Bordo team that won the title in the championship of the then SFRY.

He played 161 matches for FK Sarajevo and scored one goal. Including unofficial matches, he made a total of 256 appearances for Sarajevo.

After finishing his playing career, he dedicated himself to coaching, and spent most of his coaching career at his beloved Košev, where he worked in the first team's professional staff, as well as with youth categories. In the 1998/99 and 2001/02 seasons, he led the first team from the bench several times.

Sead Jesenković was buried on November 24 at the Grličića brdo cemetery in Sarajevo.
