Certification Denied for Candidates Who Changed Nationality, Pleho Serb Not Going to the FBiH House of Peoples?

The Central Election Commission (CIK) of Bosnia and Herzegovina carried out verification and certification of candidate lists for the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) from the assemblies of the Tuzla, West Herzegovina, Zenica-Doboj, Bosnian-Podrinje and Livno cantons, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The certification of the candidate list of MP Edhem Fejzić for the election of delegates from the ranks of others from the Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton to the House of Peoples of the federal Parliament was denied because the proposed candidate declared himself as a Bosniak in the 2012 local elections.

Also, the certification of the candidate list of MP Muamer Omanović for the election of delegates from the ranks of the Croatian people to the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH from the Assembly of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde was denied because the proposed candidate declared himself as a Bosniak in the 2014 general elections.

The CIK today rejected the candidate list of MP Emir Frašta for the election of delegates from the ranks of others to the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH from the Assembly of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton because, according to the provisions of the Election Law of BiH, delegates from the ranks of others are not elected from this canton.

According to information from Patria, if a candidate list for MP Haris Pleho arrives from the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton, who in 2012 declared himself in local elections as being from the ranks of others, and for these elections as a Serb, the CIK will deny certification for the same reasons as for Fejzić.

FIVE CANTONS SUBMITTED LISTS

From the Assembly of the Tuzla Canton for the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH, eight candidate lists with 21 candidates were certified; from the Assembly of the West Herzegovina Canton, six candidate lists with 13 candidates were certified; from the Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, nine candidate lists with 26 candidates were certified. From the Assembly of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde, six candidate lists with 11 candidates were certified; and from the Assembly of the Livno Canton, five candidate lists with 13 candidates were certified. Decisions on the certification of candidate lists will be submitted to the competent cantonal assemblies in order to continue the procedure for the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH, the CIK announced.
